The Richardson Chamber of Commerce and the City of Richardson formed a partnership dating back to 1984, known as the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP). The mission of the REDP is to:
- Attract capital investment in the form of new businesses and corporate expansions and relocations to Richardson
- Assist in bringing both high wage and quality jobs to Richardson
- Assist local corporate clients to expand their operations Richardson
- Improve the retail shopping experience in Richardson.
REDP maintains a wide range of information on Richardson, the local real estate market, community data and site selection data and has its own web site: www.telecomcorridor.com/ed Recent accomplishments include:
- 76 business expansions and relocations in 2006-07 that resulted in over 8,600 jobs for the Richardson economy and 3.4 million square feet of additional office and flex space occupancy;
- Assisted Blue Cross & Blue Shield in selecting the Galatyn Park site for a new 1 million SF headquarters with a potential growth of 5,000 employees.
- Worked with DART in support of the Cotton Belt rail route for their 2030 plan, insuring rail access to DFW Airport and a DART rail station at UTD.
- Assisting efforts to transform Collins Technology Park into a premier data center location.
- Redevelopment of 8 local shopping centers, construction of 3 new centers, and 3 new mixed-use developments including Eastside, a $90M upscale apartment /retail project, The Venue, a mid-rise 280-unit upscale apartment complex in the heart of Galatyn Park (www.venueforliving.com), and Brick Row(www.livebrickrow.com), a $140M TOD development at the Spring Valley DART station. In total more than $350M in new retail-related developments since 2004.
