Mission Statement

The Chamber, through the involvement of its leaders and members, shall reinvigorate and seek continuous improvement in its programs and services in a way that constantly delivers tangible value to its members and the community.

The RCC achieves its mission by focusing on four specific areas:

  • Economic development
  • Business advocacy
  • Leadership development
  • Education and networking

Economic Development

Since 1984, the RCC has had a joint cooperative effort with the City of Richardson known as the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP). The REDP's mission is to:

  •  Bring technology and other high-wage jobs to Richardson
  • Continue to attract high-quality commercial tax base to Richardson
  • Assist corporations to expand their local operations or relocate to Richardson
  • Maintain detailed data and information on all aspects of the community and doing business in Richardson
  • Provide information all available office and office-tech space and land sites.
Recent accomplishments:
  • Supported/assisted 57 business expansions and relocations (2007-08) resulting in over 6,400 jobs announced for Richardson's economy, leasing almost 2 million SF of office and flex space
  • Assisted Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas in selecting a new campus site at Galatyn Park for a 1 M SF headquarters for up to 5,000 employees
  • Worked with DART on selection of the Cotton Belt rail route for DART 2030 Plan, insuring rail access to DFW Airport and a station at The University of Texas at Dallas in NW Richardson;
  • Renovation/remodeling of 10 local shopping venues (over 1.3M SF) since 2004;
  • Added over 50 new restaurants (2007-08);
  • Led efforts to assist existing stores and attract new grocery stores and retaining local tax dollars through successful beer and wine sales election (2006).

Business Advocacy

The RCC serves as the voice of the local business community. Whether it is local, state, or federal government, education, transportation or workforce issues, the RCC is there to support and protect the interests of the local business community.

  • Led efforts to establish the Texas Emerging Technology Fund;
  • Organizes a "Legislative Day" in Austin during the legislative session;
  • Produces an annual New Teachers Luncheon for the Richardson Independent School District;
  • Keeps Richardson a pro-business community;
  • Instituted an annual RISD Career Summit to educate students about what careers in specific industries/fields are available after high school and/or college.

Leadership Richardson

Leadership Richardson's purpose is to bring together a cadre of emerging community and business leaders to encourage them to care for their community. Through the program's history, the objectives for Leadership Richardson have remained constant.

  • To identify and motivate emerging community leaders;
  • To acquaint participants with a local historical perspective and with current community dynamics;
  • To assist participants in identifying and addressing community needs, issues and problems;
  • To develop personal and organizational leadership skills;
  • To challenge participants to increased community leadership.

LR is a 9 month leadership development program. Participants must commit to attending one full day session each month. Sessions are from September to May.

Education and Networking

The RCC coordinates more than 48 informative, educational and/or networking forums each year to support business development.
